I took my daughter to a doctor's appointment this morning which started to run into time we hadn't allotted for. We started to get nervous while we waited because this was a special day for her. Beginning yesterday, she was to read the announcements over the intercom at her middle school. A very shy kiddo, this was a safe way to be heard; it was also an honor to be asked in the first place.
On the way back to school (we got there just in time!) I thought about the testimonial videos which we watch at CBC on occasion. Obviously, each one has been unique, and like my daughter, without the added stress of being "out there", and in this case, in front of our congregation. These are sweet faces I often recognize, many of whom I've had the opportunity to study or attend classes with in these past few years.
Even still, it takes courage to expose personal details that are not perfect; struggles which are real and life changing in many ways. So, here's to those who step up to a mic or who sit in front of a large, black camera and tell their stories.
