Men's Breakfast Was Awesome!

I had been waking early all week for a conference in Dallas, so I thought I'd be able to make it to the super-early 8 AM Real Guys' Breakfast this past Saturday. I even brought my 5yo son.

I tell you, the breakfast was great. I don't know who made the egg casserole, but it was really good. My picky son devoured all of his meal.

I was surprised how crowded the event was. We spilled over into the lobby from the cafe. My guess is there were about 120 guys there.

Pete Briscoe, Senior Pastor at Bent Tree Church, spoke about Christ loving us. He said it's the part of John 3:16 that he had not given much thought to. He spoke about spending time with his 13yo daughter at a ranch a couple of years ago that brought them closer together. He compared his love for his daughter to Christ's love for him. And, he said, we can trust someone when we know that person loves us.

The takeway was that if we can internalize how much Christ loves us, we will better be able to trust him. And isn't trust what we need to do?

Oh, and the takeway for my 5yo was a copy of Pete Briscoe's book for being the youngest in attendance. He said he can't wait to learn how to read so he can read it.
