It has been nine long months since a devastating earthquake rocked the impoverished nation of Haiti and, even though our sister church in Chambellan escaped without physical harm, it has still been affected by the quake's aftermath. Refugees from Port-au-Prince and the nation's center provinces have streamed into Chambellan and the church there has been overwhelmed with people needing help.
We last visited Chambellan in July of 2009 and we'd like to gauge your interest in visiting our sister church early next year. Next Sunday, Sept. 19, we're going to hold an informational and organizational meeting in the cafe after the second service. We'd love for you to buy a meal (proceeds go to Chambellan) and listen to us share our heart for the future trip over lunch.
Our missions meal proceeds will specifically help our sister church take care of the refugee children. Would you buy a meal or two for this cause? Ont he menu is chicken Parmesan, cheesy potatoes and green beans.
Here are two pictures of our sister church, the building and the people.
